Impacted by exposure to damp buildings and molds over a five year period, Ms. Brinchman developed an environmental illness and was unable to continue working in school environments. Upon learning that damp schools, with their resultant growth of molds and bacteria, present a serious, extensive, international public health problem, Mrs. Brinchman founded The Center for School Mold Help, with the assistance of Sick Building Syndrome and Fungi researcher and expert, Dr. David Conrad Straus, Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, Founder and Co-Director of TX Tech University's Center for Indoor Air Research. SMH informs the general public, using science-based information about damp buildings and mold, in order to prevent similar exposures and illnesses from harming other children, teachers, and school staff.
