Overview

Othmar Zeidler (1859? - June 26, 1911) was an Austrian chemist credited with the first synthesis of DDT, (Dichloro Diphenyl Trichloroethane) in 1874. He was a doctoral student with Adolf von Baeyer at the University of Strasbourg, then in Germany. However, he did not recognize it usefulness as an insecticide as Paul Hermann Muller did in 1939.
